Hide Race 101

Each year over the 24th of July there is a Ranch Rodeo. The cowboys/cowgirls participate in events that the cowboys did back in the day on the ranch. One event is the hide race. They would take a cow's hide, lay down on it and get pulled behind a horse. This year Ryan and Jaydee decided they wanted to try it. We started our practices last night. For those of you who don't know about this tradition this post is for you!
Hide Racing 101
according to the Neilson/Kump Children!
First you need proper eye wear! Tired of the dirt getting in their eyes they went for their swim goggles as you see below. Tanner is our cute model for the day!
Step two: Climb on the rubber mat also known as the hide. (Nate of course could not be left out, he won't be 2 until next week but has to be right there with the big kids) Third, curl up into a ball to protect one's self from as much dirt as possible!Fourth, hold on tight! The four wheeler is being substituted in for the practice rides. At the rodeo we'll use the horse!
Stay in position!
Finally, roll off at designated spot and have team member jump on and head to finish line!
